ROOTED AT HOME, growing together
Our classes and electives give learners opportunities to learn through play based, student led, hands-on, peer focused, discovery driven activities.
We differ from traditional co-ops because we are a drop off program run by experienced and certified teachers. We follow a hybrid homeschool model.
Our program allows students to have their very own school like community with homeschooling roots and values leading the way. Families are constantly in connection within our little school. We love a good take home project, field trip, special event, holiday, and so much more!
We also offer private tutoring upon request and have plentiful educational resources to share with families.
Meet Sarah Tesar
Hello, Sarah here! Owner, director and teacher at The Homeschool. Let me share a little about what got me here. My vision for this program started a couple of years ago as I was struggling to be a present mom as a public school teacher. The struggle grew when the time came to send my oldest daughter to kindergarten. Play and hands-on learning was minimal. The academic pressure and anxiety was already creeping in. I knew how amplified it would get in years to come. My husband Mike and I decided within that year, our family needed something different. We wanted a different learning environment for our girls. I also needed a platform to teach that better aligned with my educational philosophies. The idea of homeschooling won our hearts, but I knew I didn't want to solely homeschool. I wholeheartedly believe in learning communities. I wanted balanced home and school like learning opportunities for my kids.
Then, I connected with Kidventures, a preschool who shares the same philosophies about community and hands-on learning! I took over Kidventures Homeschool Program for the 2025/26 school year, and have grown it into it's own domain. The Homeschool has officially been born and is ready to soar for 2026/27! We will continue to be in collaboration with Kidventures and are grateful for our future "sister school" relationship.
If you are looking for a fun, supplemental learning experience for your homeschooler, you have found the right place! We aim to keep your roots planted at home, and grow our community connections together.
ELECTIVES for 2026/27
- Our electives are for any homeschools, not just the ones enrolled in our classes
- We offer two types of electives
1. SOCIAL ELECTIVES which are fun and social driven. These electives are more flexible with no long term commitment. You can sign up for one class at a time and pay as you come.
2. EDUCATIONAL ELECTIVES are more curricular driven. These electives will be tied to a subject area and be more of a commitment . Your learner will leave these electives having learned specific content from NYS learning standards.

- We offer 5 different classes, ranging in number of days per week
- We have one, 1 day option, two, 2 day options, and an added 3rd day option for both 2 day groups
- Families are welcome to sign up for more than one class if looking for more than 3 days per week

ABOUT the ONE DAY friday CLASS
Mixed grades K-5
The BLUE Class: Monday
11:45-2:45 AM
$150/month
- Monthly science and social studies themes will be utilized to create opportunities for play, games, creation, learning, and discovery.
- This group is open-ended with socialization being the primary focus.
ABOUT the TWO DAY CLASSES
Grades K-2 Options:
The RED Class: Monday & Tuesday
The YELLOW Class: Wednesday & Thursday
Grades 3-5 Options:
The ORANGE Class: Monday & Tuesday
The GREEN Class: Wednesday & Thursday
*All 2 day session run from 11:45-2:45 PM
*All 2 day sessions are $250/month
*All 2 day sessions can add Friday for a third day for $100/month
- These groups start class time with all grades K-5 together for socialization, open play, games and a class meeting as one big group. The groups then separate during learning time.
- These classes give more of a “hybrid” feel. Learning and socialization are given equal focus. It’s the perfect blend of structure and flexibility. Student led learning is a driving force.
- Monthly science and social studies themes/units drive learning opportunities, while also weaving in reading, writing, math, art and music within the theme.
- Separated class time incorporates a short whole group lesson, followed by small group stations. Stations include learning opportunities across subject areas, and are also loaded with peer-to-peer, hands-on, learning, discovery, and creative opportunities.

- Think FUN FRIDAY!
- This group is more open-ended with socialization being the primary focus. Kiddos will have more time for open play, games, art, and science.
- Stations will still happen, but with more of a fun Friday feel. These classes will be be a little more mixed and less split compared to the other two days.
